Quinoa is a protein-rich seed which contains all eight essential amino acids of human body functions, and has a low Glycemic Index (GI) of 53. Due to its low GI value and 20 times rich dietary fiber than white rice, body intakes slowly and good for cardiovascular system.
Our Fair Trade Organic quinoa is grown by two different Fairtrade Cooperatives; Coopain and Cagma, whose are formed by over 1,000 smallholder farmers on Peruvian Altiplano near Lake Titicaca.
It’s important the farmers are looked after and treated fairly with a sustainable income. They use no pesticides, chemicals or fertilizers, practice dry agriculture to preserve
previous water resources and rotate their crops to allow the land to regenerate post-harvest.
Cooking directions:
Boil in water for 12 minutes then drain, can be served as part of salad or rice.
