Fair Trade and Organic and Environmental Protection

"Fair trade" is not synonymous with "organic", but the two are closely related. Fair trade is a people-oriented trading method, and organic is a cultivation method that emphasizes environmental friendliness.

Farmers who have been exploited for a long time are forced to adopt cheaper farming methods, which sacrifices the protection of the natural environment. Fair trade guarantees the purchase price and protects the income of farmers. It breaks the vicious circle that is unfavorable to producers and the environment, thereby encouraging producers to grow organic products. It also trains producers to grow organic crops and learns sustainable farming techniques for the environment. The high price incentives of producers for fair trade and the strengthening of environmental protection training have become powerful pillars to support the development of organic agriculture.

In addition, in order to obtain a fair trade certification, producers must abide by some environmental protection standards, such as reducing the use of pesticides and the use of harmful pesticides, the use of genetically modified raw materials, proper disposal of waste, and maintenance of soil and water.

The following are the environmental conditions for obtaining fair trade certification:

1. Soil and water sources: Rotate tillage and sustainable irrigation are used to maintain soil, maintain water sources and gradually reduce water consumption.
